Tenerife to Host the Final Conference of the BUR-EB Project

On October 7, 2025, Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host the Final Conference of the BUR-EB Project, an international initiative dedicated to estimating the socio-economic burden of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) in 7 EU countries (Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Austria and Bulgaria). The conference will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, and representatives of patient organizations (DEBRA) to present the main results achieved during this collaborative and multidisciplinary effort.

Throughout the day, participants will present the progress made in studying both the direct and indirect costs associated with EB from the expenses borne by patients and their families to the consequences for their quality of life, emotional well-being, and social and economic situation. The sessions will also highlight the findings of the qualitative research carried out within the project.
A milestone for the scientific community and patients
The BUR-EB Final Conference marks a key moment in the conclusion of the project, which has generated both scientific evidence and practical resources aimed at improving the care of people with Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Beyond presenting the achievements obtained, the gathering in Tenerife will provide an opportunity to reflect on the remaining challenges and explore new ways to continue improving the lives of patients and their families.
